This Privacy Policy explains how MenusHub (“MenusHub”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects personal data when you visit menushub.co.uk. We aim to follow the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
1. Who we are
MenusHub is an independent publishing project run by Azhar Rasheed Qureshi. For the purposes of data protection law we are the data controller for personal data collected through this website. You can contact us at hello@azharrasheedseo.com.
2. What data we collect
We keep data collection to a minimum. Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:
- Technical data: IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed and time of visit. This is collected automatically through server logs and analytics tools.
- Usage data: how you move around the site, such as pages visited, links clicked and the search terms you type into our search box.
- Contact data: your name, email address and the contents of your message if you email us, report a price error or request a menu.
- Cookie data: information stored by cookies and similar technologies. See our Cookie Policy.
We do not knowingly collect special category data (such as health or religious data) and we do not ask you to create an account to read the site.
3. How and why we use your data
| Purpose | Data used | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Running and securing the website | Technical data, server logs | Legitimate interests (keeping the site secure and working) |
| Understanding how the site is used and improving content | Usage and technical data (analytics) | Consent where required for non-essential cookies; otherwise legitimate interests |
| Replying to your emails and corrections | Contact data | Legitimate interests (answering enquiries) or steps you ask us to take |
| Showing advertising, if enabled | Cookie and device data | Consent |
| Meeting legal obligations | Any relevant data | Legal obligation |
4. Cookies, analytics and advertising
We use cookies and similar technologies. Essential cookies keep the site working. Where we use analytics or advertising cookies we ask for your consent first, in line with PECR. Third-party services, such as Google Analytics or Google AdSense, may set their own cookies and receive data such as your IP address and browsing activity. Details, and how to change your choices, are in our Cookie Policy. You can read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
5. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the site, under appropriate agreements, such as:
- web hosting and content delivery providers;
- analytics and advertising providers (only where you have consented to the relevant cookies);
- email providers, so we can read and reply to your messages;
- professional advisers, regulators or law enforcement where the law requires it.
6. International transfers
Some of our providers and our own team operate outside the UK, including in Pakistan and the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK we rely on safeguards recognised by UK law, such as adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. How long we keep data
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above:
- server logs: normally up to 90 days;
- analytics data: according to the retention setting of the analytics tool, normally 14 months or less;
- emails and correspondence: up to 24 months after the conversation ends, unless we need them longer to resolve a dispute or meet a legal duty.
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- be told how your data is used (this policy);
- access a copy of your personal data;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased in certain circumstances;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- receive your data in a portable format where applicable;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing.
To use any of these rights, email hello@azharrasheedseo.com. We may need to verify your identity and will normally reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, although we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
9. Children
MenusHub is a general-audience information site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including HTTPS encryption and access controls. No online service can be guaranteed completely secure, so please avoid sending sensitive information by email.
11. Links to other websites
Our pages link to restaurant websites, delivery apps and other third parties. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please read their policies before sharing data.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
